Steven Rios

Steve brings over 45 years of engineering expertise, specializing in the design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for a vast array of project types, including commercial, industrial, institutional, educational, mission critical, and government initiatives.

Since joining 5BY5 Engineering in June 2023, Steve has enjoyed the diversity of projects, the strong sense of office camaraderie, and, not least, the free cups of coffee that keep the team energized. What he values most about being an engineer is the collaboration with fellow engineers and architects to devise viable solutions for clients, consistently challenging himself to exceed expectations.

Over his illustrious career, Steve has been instrumental in design analysis, system layout, equipment specification, implementation of construction documents, and contract administration in mechanical engineering. His expertise encompasses the sizing and layout of chilled water and hot water systems, air side equipment selection, air duct distribution, and the specification of fire suppression and automatic fire sprinkler systems, including fire pumps.

Additionally, he has designed specialized plumbing systems and has extensive experience in construction administration, collaborating closely with architects, owners, and contractors. Known for his deep understanding of public toilet design for large assembly facilities and fire sprinkler/fire suppression design requirements, Steve's contributions to 5BY5 Engineering and the field at large are invaluable.
